Osprey

A family holding a single species, cosmopolitan and unmistakable. It was long placed among the hawks and eagles, but its anatomy sets it apart: a reversible outer toe, spiny pads on the soles and dense oily plumage, all of it built around catching fish by plunging feet-first into water. No other raptor is so completely committed to a single kind of prey.
