Pheasants & Grouse

More than 180 species of heavy-bodied ground birds, including pheasants, grouse, partridges and turkeys. Strong legs do most of the daily work, while short rounded wings provide a sudden burst of fast flight when danger approaches. Many species show pronounced differences between the sexes, with males using elaborate plumage, calls or displays while females carry the greater share of nesting and brood care.
