The Red-crested Pochard is a large diving duck of southern and central Eurasia. It feeds heavily on submerged vegetation and may gather in large moulting and wintering flocks on suitable lakes.

ID tip: The male has a rounded orange head, red bill and black breast. Females are warm brown with a pale face and dark crown, while both sexes show a broad white wing bar in flight.
