The Red-rumped Swallow is a long-tailed swallow of warm open country from southern Europe and Africa across Asia. It builds a closed mud nest with a tubular entrance beneath cliffs, bridges and buildings.

ID tip: Look for the pale or rufous rump, buff collar and finely streaked underparts. Its tail is deeply forked, but the outer streamers are shorter and broader than those of a Barn Swallow.
