The White-throated Dipper is an aquatic songbird of fast, clean streams across Europe, North Africa and Asia. It feeds underwater, using its short wings to move through the current and walking over stones on the stream bed.

ID tip: The compact dark body, short cocked tail and brilliant white throat and breast are unmistakable. It repeatedly bobs on streamside rocks before entering or diving into the water.
