Anna's Hummingbird is a stocky hummingbird with a straight bill and green upperparts. Adult males have an iridescent rose-red crown and throat, while females show only small coloured patches. The species feeds on nectar and small insects and readily visits gardens and feeders. It is resident throughout the year in much of the Pacific Northwest. During display dives, the male produces a loud sound with its tail feathers.
