Black-legged Kittiwake

The Black-legged Kittiwake is a pelagic gull that comes ashore mainly to breed on narrow ledges of sea cliffs. It feeds at the surface and by shallow plunge-diving, often gathering where currents concentrate small fish. Adults have a clean white head, pale grey back, black legs and solid black wingtips; juveniles add a dark neck band and a bold black pattern across the wings.
