The Carrion Crow is an adaptable all-black corvid found across much of western Europe and eastern Asia. Usually seen alone, in pairs or small groups, it searches both natural and urban habitats for a wide range of food.

ID tip: Look for uniform black plumage, a stout bill and a fairly square tail. It is smaller and less heavy-billed than a Common Raven and lacks the Hooded Crow's grey body.
