Crows & Ravens

About 130 species, including the jays, magpies and nutcrackers. Brain size relative to body is among the largest of any birds, and this family supplies most of the standard examples of avian cognition: tool use, planning for future needs, recognition of individual human faces, and caching that takes account of which other individuals were watching. Most are omnivorous, socially complex and long-lived.
