A small, largely unstreaked warbler that moves through reeds and waterside vegetation in search of insects. Its warm brown back, pale underside and subdued face can make it easy to overlook among the stems. European breeding birds migrate to Africa. The current eBird name Common Reed Warbler includes the forms formerly treated as Eurasian and African Reed Warblers.

ID tip: Plain warm-brown upperparts, pale buff underparts and a faint short eyebrow. Marsh Warbler can be very similar, so habitat and voice are useful supporting clues.
