Heermann's Gull

Heermann's Gull is a medium-sized Pacific gull with a dark grey body, white head and red bill in adult plumage. Most of the global population breeds on islands in the Gulf of California. After breeding, many birds move north along the coast and reach Washington and British Columbia. It feeds mainly on fish and marine invertebrates. The species frequently steals fish from Brown Pelicans while the pelicans drain water from their pouches.
