The Ring-billed Gull is a medium-sized gull with yellow legs and a black ring near the tip of the yellow bill. It breeds in colonies around inland lakes and winters widely along coasts, rivers and urban areas. The diet includes fish, insects, grain, earthworms and human refuse. Adult plumage is usually reached in the third year. It is one of the most numerous and familiar gulls in North America.

ID tip: The crisp, complete black ring on an otherwise yellow bill, combined with yellow legs and a pale eye, is diagnostic among Washington's regular gulls.
