Thrushes

About 170 species worldwide, absent only from the driest deserts and the high Arctic. Medium-sized songbirds with slender bills, large eyes and, in most, a spotted juvenile plumage that betrays the family even in species where adults are plain. Many are outstanding singers. The diet is typically divided by season, between soil invertebrates in the breeding months and fruit in autumn and winter.
