The Common Pochard is a medium-sized diving duck of Europe and Asia. It feeds by diving in open water and often gathers with other diving ducks during migration and winter.

ID tip: Males have a chestnut head, black breast and pale grey body. Females are warm brown with a darker crown and a diffuse pale area around the eye and bill base.
