The Common Raven is a large all-black corvid with a heavy bill, shaggy throat and wedge-shaped tail. It occupies forests, mountains, coasts, deserts and settlements across much of the Northern Hemisphere. Ravens eat carrion, small animals, eggs, fruit and many other available foods. Pairs often hold large territories, while non-breeding birds gather in mobile groups. Its deeper voice, larger bill and wedge-shaped tail separate it from the American Crow.
