A fine morning on Foster Island in good weather. The island itself gave a handful of decent subjects, and the best of it was not at the water but back from it, along the edges of the meadows: songbirds in numbers, and remarkably unbothered by people. In the afternoon, Discovery Park, the only visit there so far. It was still warm and the light was flat, so the time went on swallows over a meadow instead, which is as good a way as any to practise on something fast. Six species new to the list.
